How to care for your hydro seeded garden

Once your lawn has been treated with hydroseeding CT the real work starts. You'll need to give your newly hydroseeded lawn a bit of TLC.

How do I achieve the most effective results from hydroseeding?

Hydroseed needs to be watered three times throughout the day, for 10-20 minutes at each.
The green color will fade after 2-7 days.
Watering should be done between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (Remember to take a bath after dark).
You can alter the amount of water you consume according to the weather and time of year. You need to water more frequently and for longer periods of time. You may also reduce the frequency of watering during the colder autumn months and for shorter durations.
For proper germination, The hydroseed needs to be kept in a moist environment. The soil does not have to be saturated all of the time.
Don't leave water on your lawn. Instead, keep it damp and moist. You can reduce how often you water your lawn in the next about 4-6 weeks.

How can you keep hydro seeds in good health?

When germination is sufficient, germination will begin in some locations in 10-14 days. Afterward, a lawn will be ready to be mowed in six to eight weeks. The lawn will be fully developed within 6-9 months.

For the first six weeks, stay clear of traffic within the areas that are planted.

Due to varying levels of sun, shade, and water, certain areas will come in much better than others in the beginning weeks. This is common with every application of hydroseed. After 4-5 weeks, your lawn will begin to fill with. It's worth scraping up any thin areas and seeding them with a hand. Mix fescue and rye together with Kentucky bluegrass to get the best results.

It is strongly suggested to apply an 18-24-12 fertilizer on your lawn once it is hydroseeded. After three weeks of application, you can apply another fertilizer that is a starting fertilizer. For the first 10-12 weeks, do not apply any weed killers on the lawn.

There are weeds that may be growing on your lawn. When the lawn has grown and you're ready to apply the weed control fertilizer to remove the weeds.

The first time you mow your lawn is scheduled for approximately 5 weeks after it was hydroseeded. It is recommended to cut the grass when it is dry with a push mower. This will avoid the seedlings from being damaged. Before you begin mowing it is recommended to suspend water for a few days so that the soil has time to completely dry. The clippings must be left on the grass however, clumps shouldn't be placed on the lawn as they can harm the newly planted seeds.

Beware of allowing your lawn to get to a height that is too high. Then, after cutting it back to a reasonable height, is likely to damage the grass, which will make it difficult to get it back to a good state. Get someone else to trim your lawn during your vacation or will not be able to mow it for longer than an entire week. Do not cut down your lawn for more than 1/3 of its length in one mowing. It is better to wait for about 4-5 days before you reduce it to around 3".
